21 May 2026HEALTH AWARENESS:
A LIFESTYLE, NOT A MOMENT
While Health Awareness Month may have passed, the call to care for our bodies and minds remains just as important. True wellness is not limited to a season, it’s a daily commitment to living well, stewarding our health, and supporting one another.
Fuel Your Body Right: Build a Balanced Plate
What we eat fuels how we live. A balanced plate is a simple and practical way to nourish your body and sustain your energy throughout the day.
A healthy plate includes:
• Half vegetables and fruits – rich in vitamins and fibre (spinach, carrots, apples, bananas)
• A quarter carbohydrates – for energy (rice, potatoes, bread, maize meal)
• A quarter protein – for strength and repair (chicken, fish, eggs, beans, lentils)
• Healthy fats in moderation – for overall wellness (avocado, nuts, olive oil)
Balance, not perfection, is key. Small, consistent choices make a lasting difference.
Small Habits, Strong Mind
Caring for your mind is just as important as caring for your body. Healthy habits help us stay grounded, resilient, and able to navigate life’s challenges.
Here are simple ways to build a strong mind:
• Prioritise 7–9 hours of sleep each night
• Spend time outdoors and get daily sunlight
• Stay active — even a short walk can uplift your mood
• Take breaks from screens and social media
• Stay connected — talk to someone you trust
• Create moments to pause, reflect, and pray
Small habits, practiced daily, build a stronger and healthier you.
Health awareness is not just about information — it’s about action. As we continue to care for others, let us also be intentional about caring for ourselves.
A healthy body and a healthy mind enable us to serve, grow, and live with purpose.
