21 May 2026SOCIAL WORKER MONTH:
HONOURING THE HEART BEHIND THE WORK
This past month, AFM Welfare had the privilege of celebrating Social Worker Month, a time dedicated to recognising the individuals who serve our communities with compassion, resilience, and unwavering commitment.
Throughout the month, we shared a series of real and deeply personal stories from our social workers. These voice notes offered a glimpse into moments that have shaped their journeys, moments of both joy and heartbreak, of breakthrough and restoration. Each story reminded us that social work is not just a profession, but a calling.
Behind every act of service is a person who chooses, daily, to show up for others. Whether walking alongside vulnerable families, supporting children in need, or standing in the gap during times of crisis, our social workers embody what it truly means to live out compassion in action.
What made this month especially meaningful was the way these stories connected us. They allowed us to pause, reflect, and appreciate the depth of impact that often goes unseen. More importantly, they reminded us that even the smallest act of care can change a life.
If you missed any of these powerful moments, we encourage you to take time to listen and be inspired. You can find the full collection of stories on the AFM Welfare Facebook page and the AFM Welfare YouTube channel.
As we move forward, may these stories continue to encourage us all, to serve with greater compassion, to listen more deeply, and to remain present in the lives of those around us.
To every social worker: thank you. Your work matters. Your stories matter. And your impact reaches far beyond what can be seen.
Together, we continue to build stronger, more caring communities.
